Slot Machines and Autumn Scenes

We visited Herne Bay a few days ago and caught J-Rock in action on the penny pusher machines. Put a penny in and all (well some) of the pennies fall down and you are the winner.
He usually loses a pound then walks away!

There are so many nice colours in the autumn over here that it almost makes England comparable to autumn foliage in Canada! There are all sorts of berries and plants in full fruit. Above are rose hips and Old Man's Beard. We took these while on a walk in the Ealham Valley last weekend.

...ain't that a thistle? Just this a.m. saw a blooming thistle on our road, and thought we should do like the Scots and grow the things: you would have to have a special, way-separate garden for them

...and so glad J-Rock is being taught the folly of gambling (ie. he is losing). But it's fun anyway!!

Be forewarned. Never start a thistle garden. Cuz if you do you will have one for the rest of your life! Just ask Doug!

Och yes! I had forgotten that the MacThomases are FAMOUS for world beauty thistles!

...the other M would have my head if I tried a thistle garden: he spent two years picking them out of our would-be lawn in an attempt at civilization...
